A contemporary novelist, playwright and performance artist, Olivia Rosenthal has written around fifteen works of prose that are distinctive in their blending of documentary and fiction. Published by Verticales, these include Une femme sur le fil (2025), Éloge des bâtards (2019), Toutes les femmes sont des aliens (2016), as well as Un singe à ma fenêtre (2022), written following her residency at the Villa Kujoyama.
Olivia Rosenthal also writes for the theatre and performs on stage, presenting hybrid forms in collaboration with artists from a wide range of disciplines, including several projects with composer Eryck Abecassis. Performing her own texts, she has spent many years exploring the possibilities of bringing the written word to life beyond the page.
